Pobuzhsky Ferronickel Plant has passed a certification audit for compliance with three standards: ISO 9001:2015 (implementation and application of the quality management system in accordance with the requirements of the above-mentioned standard); ISO 45001:2018 (health and safety management system according to the above-mentioned standard); ISO 14001: 2015 (environmental management system in accordance with the requirements of the above-mentioned standard).

This was reported by the plant’s press service.

The audit was conducted by representatives of DEKRA Certification GmbH during the period from 5 – 7 October 2020.

ISO 45001: 2018 is rather a new certification system that provides for the prevention of industrial injury and occupational diseases, as well as ensures the availability of safe and healthy working positions.

The positive audit results regarding ISO 45001: 2018 compliance are especially relevant in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The audit of our management systems confirms our commitment to international standards adopted for all Solway Group assets, and demonstrates the exact implementation of the Sustainable Development Strategy,” commented PFP CEO, Denys Shevchenko. “Pobuzhsky Ferronickel Plant, like any metallurgical production, has must manage operational risks. The plant’s owners and management pay special attention to health, safety and ecology. All processes in the company are built in accordance with the requirements and norms of domestic legislation in the field of labor protection and in accordance with international regulations.”

The auditors evaluated the organization of workplaces, provision of employees of the plant with overalls and other personal protective equipment, the level of implementation of measures to prevent injury, the quality of document flow, and compliance with the requirements of the ISOs. According to the inspection, a high level of competence of employees responsible for labor protection and industrial safety was observed.

Another important aspect mentioned by the representatives of the audit firm was excellent relations between the enterprise and all stakeholders, including staff and the local community. At the same time, auditors’ special attention was directed at the involvement of personnel in assessing and minimizing those risks associated with health and safety at work, as well as in implementation of environmental programs at the enterprise.

It was reported earlier that PFP is one of the first enterprises in Ukraine to successfully complete the audit according to fundamentally new ISO standards.
